As October draws near, the air is electric with anticipation for one of Disney's most enchanting events: the Oogie Boogie Bash! Halloween lovers and Disney fans alike are in for a treat. This celebration combines spooky fun, interactive experiences, and a touch of Disney magic. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned visitor, let's explore what awaits at Oogie Boogie Bash. Even though the 2024 season is coming to a close, it’s best to use the prior year to plan ahead for next year's Halloween fun.
What is Oogie Boogie Bash?
Each year Disneyland Resort hosts a Halloween Party, the Oogie Boogie Bash, at Disney California Adventure Park on select nights from August to October. Oogie Boogie, aka the Boogieman, is the villainous burlap sack of bugs from Nightmare Before Christmas, who kidnaps Santa Claus. Just as people have a tendency to confuse Disneyland (California) and Disney World (Florida), they confuse their Parties. Walt Disney World Resort in Florida hosts Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, while Disneyland in California has the Oogie Boogie Bash. Oogie Boogie Bash is a ticketed event that turns Disney California Adventure Park into a Halloween wonderland. This festive night is packed with vibrant attractions, unique entertainment, and the chance to meet Disney’s infamous villains. In 2023, the event welcomed over 30,000 guests over its duration, showcasing its growing popularity. Think of it as a night where Disney’s whimsical charm meets the eerie spirit of Halloween!
Guests with party tickets can enter Disney California Adventure Park at 3:00 PM, but the Party takes place from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. At 6:00 PM guests without party tickets are asked to leave the Park. Guests entering the park with a Party ticket will have a wrist band placed at entry. Cast members will start asking to see your wristband once the party starts.
Event Dates and Ticket Information
A limited number of tickets are sold for each date of Oogie Boogie Bash. Ticket prices vary based on date—ranges from $129 to $199 per person depending on demand and day of the week. Last year, peak nights sold out fast, so consider purchasing your tickets as soon as they become available. Keep an eye on the official Disneyland website for updates! Historically, tickets go on sale from late June to early July.
For 2024, tickets went on sale:
June 25: for Inspire Magic Key holders
June 26: for Other Magic Key holders

The waiting room to purchase tickets opened at approximately 8:45 AM PDT, and sales began at 9 AM PDT on the Disneyland website.
The event started the last week of August and took place on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings until Halloween on the 31st. The event only skipped days to accommodate the Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon.

Dressing up is a highlight of the Oogie Boogie Bash experience! All guests are encouraged to wear costumes, keeping in mind that they should be family-friendly.
Disney has specific guidelines—no masks for guests aged 14 and older and no weapons, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment. Planning your group's outfits early can elevate your experience, so unleash your creativity!
See the official website for the full guidelines and make sure you are looking under “Dressing for Special Events” as they are some relaxed guidelines for the costume party.
Insider Tips for a Spooktacular Experience
Plan your stay a year ahead!
If you want to go to Oogie Boogie in 2025, start planning in 2024. You can make a refundable Disney Resort reservation for your projected party date, as early as resort reservations open, and base it on the historical information.
Disney’s Grand Californian Resort is the best resort for your Halloween celebration.
Disney’s Grand Californian Resort has an exclusive entrance into Disney’s California Adventure Park- the site of Oogie Boogie Bash! You exit the hotel directly into the Park. You’ll never be impressed with the 5 minute walk from the Contemporary at world again!
When the Park opens for party guests, use the resort to DCA park entrance.
The line may appear long but is often single file. When we opted to go out the other exit into Downtown Disney and then enter the DCA Park via the main entrance, the lines were even longer!
While not exclusive to the party, there are a few rides made over for Halloween, you may want to check out during your visit from August 23 through October 31, 2024. One is at Disneyland Park and 3 are at Disney’s California Adventure Park.

Mickey’s Trick and Treat Stage Show
This interactive stage show at the Hollywood Theater in Disney’s California Adventure Park is a costume party with Mickey Mouse and pals!
The show is not part of Oogie Boogie Bash and the last viewing is around 4:30 PM before the Halloween Party starts. Remember this site becomes the trick or treat trail for Oogie Boogie himself during the party!
Have a game plan!
Make a list of must-dos and have a plan on how to tackle them.
If you’re like me and eating isn’t a must do, plan to have a big meal just before going into the park! Frees up more time for other activities.
Villain-themed Treats and Merchandise
Exclusive themed snacks, drinks, and event-only merchandise, including limited-edition pins, shirts, and collectibles are available throughout the park.
If these are a must-do, I recommend using your pre-party time.
Arrive Early
While the party starts at 6:00 PM, you can enter the Disney’s California Adventure Park at 3:00 PM. Use the pre-party time to do things not exclusive to the party. When the party starts, hit the ground running!
At the main entrance to DCA Park, there are “event” lines to the right for party guests to enter the park. Lines are labeled over the turnstiles.
Treat Trails are empty towards the end of the night.
While we found the treat trails to have long lines in the beginning of the party, there was no wait toward the end of the night. If your group can make it until the party closes, plan to end with the treat trails!
Brink a refillable water bottle & satiating protein snack to keep you going. While a few of the treats on the trail are healthy, most are the typical sugary sweets.
Ride times decrease for the party and continue to decrease as the party goes on.
You may want to sneak in a few favorites during the party based on your priorities and game plan.
For our family, the parade is a highlight! Our kids are young and we attended the early viewing, which is busier than the later one. However, we had no problem finding a front row spot 15 minutes before showtime in the Paradise Pier near Goofy’s Sky School.
