My biggest issue with Walt Disney World is the terrible coffee. Disney uses Joffrey’s Coffee, which is reminiscent of diluted diner coffee and seems like more of a cruel joke for someone who needs their morning fix.
When I go to Walt Disney World Resort, I love staying inside the Disney bubble. What I don’t love about my Disney resort is the lack of good coffee. I can’t make it with what is provided in my room and I can’t buy it at the resort. While I loved the addition of a Starbucks location inside each of the 4 theme parks, I don’t want to waste valuable park time in long lines for coffee. If I do wait and get the coffee, I have to chug it as I can’t take it on a a ride with me. Although I was happy to discover, the Kilimanjaro Safari Ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is the one exception to this rule.
My park strategy requires that I drink my coffee before arriving at the theme parks. While I could drive off property before we venture to a park, we are already getting everyone up early and struggling to get ready on time. If I didn’t have a car, I could opt to pay exorbitant prices to have some delivered each day, but who wants to waste all that money.
While each Walt Disney World Resort varies, most don’t provide you with a tradition coffee maker, which would allow me to just bring my own ground coffee to brew. As we tend to take long trips, the solution I’ve come up with is purchased an inexpensive drip coffee maker, the correct filters for that machine, ground coffee (avoid need to grinder) , larger disposable travel cups with lids, half and half and sugar. While I’ve looked at various option, Walmart delivery to the resort has always won, so now I just start with Walmart delivery. In addition, I have Walmart+ with free delivery as a benefit of my American Express Platinum card. While it sounds like a lot, it’s far more convenient and economical than the alternative options. I’ve typically purchased the $10 Mainstays Black 5-Cup Drip Coffee Maker (https://www.walmart.com/ip/53056868) with my favorite Chinet Comfort® Premium Disposable Paper Hot Cups with Lids, 16 oz. The 5 cup coffee maker above will make enough for two16 ounce cups of coffee. I simply add these items to my grocery delivery order. Getting some grocery items delivered to your room is another great strategy.
As you’re unlikely to be the only coffee lover at your resort, join a Facebook group for your Resort and pass your coffee maker on like many a stroller. Better yet, join the group early and hope one is passed on to you!
